Lampost

Just as I was uploading the honeycomb, the sky went crazy outside and I couldn't resist taking this shot in the street. All I need now is a bit of rolling fog and it could be a Sherlock Holmes film...

Sculpted Head

I can't lay claim to this marvellous head - it was done by the master, PBJ. She looks lovely sitting on the floor by the bay window, her own exhibition space.

I like all the muted greys here, the light is very subtle.

Wrought Iron on the beach

I've added more pictures to the Norfolk portfolio again under photos - more wrought iron left on Cley marshes which was too beautiful to not photograph.

Sardinia - a private beach

I needed cheering up. All the rain, mist and fog of late has been a bit too early for me, so I've decided to look back through my catalogue and find some crystal blue waters, white sand and sunshine. Sardinia was beautiful, unspoilt where possible and we found this place hidden away on an island. The water was too cold to swim in, but perfect for chilling a bottle of wine!

Grapes

It may be October but that doesn't mean you can't have sunshine or grapes in the UK. I sat on the steps in the garden and took this. Sadly the grapes are going off now, bit bitter in taste, not enough golden sunshine when they needed it.

Newburyport Soda

I like the shape of this signpost. I'm curious about the torn bottom edges.

Cape Cod Seaweed

This seaweed was swept away after this picture....shows you how nothing stays the same..

And from a nearby private beach:

You could sell this as a necklace!

Cape Cod, Chatham

Another from the Cape Cod series. The sand is so much paler than Norfolk it's interesting as a comparison. I did like these wooden fences though.

Cape Cod - Flowers

I really like this stange combination of colours - strong green, purple and orange. You would never put these colours together but nature makes it look gaudy and yet complimentary. No wonder butterflies come in so many colours...

Rocky Mountain National Park

There is something magical about snow - whenever I'm in a snowy environment I'm at my happiest. This was a beautifully sunny November day in Colorado and the water was freezing as it was running.

I've added a new photo gallery for snow...I'll add more as time goes on.

Newton Ferrers

Really wonderful location to go sailing. Anywhere that you have to use a dingy to get to the pub has to be good.

Irish Stones

I like the fact that the stones are masked almost by the water...this was in Southern Ireland in the middle of a bitter winter..

Disued railway line, County School

Penny and Ella had raced off into the distance so I decided to take a few pictures of the very English countryside. Who'd have thought that a railway line used to be under all this wild greenery?

Cley next the Sea, Norfolk

There is something about Norfolk that makes it very hard to take a bad picture...that or there are just too many photo opportunities. This bit of bent iron was just sitting there waiting for a camera. I've added some other photos to the Norfolk album (under photos).

Reed by the Railway Line

We have some of these reeds at home - they are very striking, even dried.

Turner Bristol

The light coming home was very strange and at 8 o'clock there was a sudden downpour outside. I grabbed my camera and ran up to the top floor window to take few pictures.

The sheen on the coloured houses was fabulous. I like the way that the old tobacco factories are lost in a romantic mist.

Then I went for the real Turner shot..

Shaker Wood

I do love the repetitions in nature and I was struck by this woodpile in the Canterbury Shaker village in New Hampshire.

Angus almost had to drag me out of the shaker shop as I was ready to buy the world and ship it back to the UK...luckily I did escape with my own shaker wooden box made from birds eye maple.

Shimla in the mist

Shimla - home of international Nancycam. Nell and I travelled around India and tried to escape the wedding photographers but were accosted at Shimla by a TV crew who wanted to make us stars.

Getting back to the plot, Shimla was an amazing hill station heading towards the Himalayas. We stayed in an old lodge where Jewel in the Crown was filmed - with no heating!

Birches by Neil Welliver

I've had this picture on my wall since the tender age of thirteen. On a trip to New York I fell in love with the combination of snow and birch trees - it changed my whole perspective on my ideal landscape.

Sadly, Neil Welliver died this year of pneumonia.

Tibetan Prayer Wheels - Slow Mo

I have absolutely no idea why bits are blurry and bits aren't, but it makes a great image. It was a nasty day of rain, rain and more rain but it was Tibetan New Year so we headed to a bar and drank with Tibetan monks. Busy chatting on their mobile phones. Odd.

Narrow Gauge Trains, India

Actually, I think British Rail could learn a lot from this rail journey. Watching the sunrise while slowing chugging up the mountains in Northern India was incredible.

Homage to Peter - Hot Air Burners

Peter,

After seeing all your great pictures of imagery reflected in metal/windows/car bumpers, I thought I would try a bit of metallic overload. These are burners from a hot air balloon.

Smeared Kremlin

This is a really old picture taken with my very old Minolta before it decided to jam for a bit. I played around with the new shutter release cable Dad had bought me on Nell's balcony.

Shame you can't see all the rubble on the balcony and the trabants down below.

And hey, you can see the Cathedral from here!
